The Turkish Competition Authority Imposes an Administrative Fine of TRY 402,327,305.84 on an Undertaking Operating in the Sports Equipment Sector

The Turkish Competition Authority (“Authority”) has concluded the investigation conducted concerning the allegation that an undertaking operating in the fields of sports footwear, sportswear and sports accessories intervened in the resale prices of its authorized dealers.

In this regard, according to the decision adopted at the meeting of the Competition Board (“Board”) dated 2 October 2025;

  • It is determined that the undertaking has violated Article 4 of Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition (“Law”) by fixing the resale prices of its authorized dealers.
  • Pursuant to Article 16(3) of the Law and Articles 5(1)(b), 5(2), and 5(3)(a) of the Regulation on Fines to Apply in Cases of Agreements, Concerted Practices and Decisions Restricting Competition, and Abuse of Dominant Position, which is published in the Official Gazette dated 15 September 2009 and numbered 27142, an administrative fine of TRY 402,327,305.84 has been imposed.

The decision constitutes an important precedent concerning practices related to resale price maintenance within the scope of agreements and practices restricting competition as set out in Article 4 of Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition.
