Turkish Competition Authority Concludes Investigation into Companies Operating in the Cinema and TV Series Sector
The investigation conducted by the Turkish Competition Authority (“Authority”) regarding Ay Sanat Prodüksiyon ve Yapım A.Ş. (“Ay Yapım”), Med Yapım Televizyon ve Filmcilik A.Ş. (“Med Yapım”) and MA Distribution Televizyon ve Filmcilik A.Ş. (“Madd”) has been concluded through commitment and settlement procedures.
In accordance with the decisions of the Competition Board (“Board”) dated 20.11.2025, the process has been concluded as follows;
It has been determined that Ay Yapım and Med Yapım violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition (“Law”) by mutually exchanging current and competitively sensitive information regarding employee wages. As a result of the settlement procedure, it has been decided to impose administrative monetary fines in the amount of:

Ay Yapım: 75,790,035.98 TL

Med Yapım: 47,811,989.24 TL
Furthermore, structural and behavioral commitments submitted regarding the competition concerns arising from the joint international distribution of TV series have been accepted. In this context, it has been ruled that;

The existence of MADD shall be terminated,
-
No other joint distribution activity shall be carried out by Ay Yapım and Med Yapım,
-
Contracts containing exclusivity clauses shall not be concluded with actors, screenwriters, directors, and independent distributors,
-
TV series and content shall be offered to international clients in an open, transparent, and unbundled manner.
