Annual Report for 2023 Published by the Turkish Competition Authority

The Annual Report ("Report") containing information on the activities of the TurkishCompetition Authority ("Authority") in 2023 was published on the Authority's official website on 14.08.2024.

According to the Report;

  • In 2023, a total of 145 decisions were taken, including 117 investigations and 28 preliminary inquiries.
  • 38 of the decisions were taken in the chemicals and mining sector, 16 in the mechanical engineering sector, 26 in the food industry, 14 in the automotive and vehicle sector and 9 in the culture, arts and entertainment sector.
  • The highest fines were imposed on the food industry with TRY 792.8 million, followed by the machinery industry with TRY 715.2 million, health services with TRY 499.4 million, chemicals and mining with TRY 172.7 million, information technologies and platform services with 103.3 million TL, construction with TRY 54.5 million, agriculture and agricultural products with TRY 33.7 million, automobiles and vehicles with TRY 8.7 million and infrastructure services with TRY 4.6 million.
  • In 2023, 2 mergers, 139 acquisitions, 73 joint ventures and 3 privatisation files were closed.
  • The total number of cases closed in 2023 was 370. Of these files, 145 were related to competition infringements, 8 to negative decisions and 217 to mergers/acquisitions/privatisations/joint ventures.
